Quick rundown of things

Speedy notes before the dog drags me out on a walk:

for those who don’t follow my LJ, I graduated recently, with Honours, in Police Foundations. So, yeah.

I think I just got signed up for fictional beta work by three more people. Okay, I take it back, I know I signed up for it.

Catherine’s mind has been at it again, resulting in now one wizard, one ghost, two fairies on the backburner, the occasional prodding of a mermaid, a superhero, and an entire string of vampires.
I, of course, would simply like her to write a Star Wars novel. :D

Have been rediscovering my intense love for Star Trek. I’m a babyfen!Trekkie, as it happens, and I continue to collect the books (want to buy the series. Will do so at some point. Probably around the time I buy that nice giant TV to watch them on). That’ll be harder over the next few booksales, as more and more people discoverk Trek for the first time. Instead of leaving me and my little table alone, the booksellers will be on the scavenge, so I’ll have to wake up early to be closer to the front of the line. Hope whoever’s hosting the sales has the sense to print maps!
(Something I really miss about NZ: The Palmerston North Red Cross Booksale. The parents take two days off work and then there are books.)

I just bought Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! This is a Big Thing, as I hate Jane Austen and her contemporaries with a passion. However. Zombies. I’m willing to give it a chance. Possibly while listening to the Shaun of the dead soundtrack.

And the doggie is making with the eyes. Off we go…

It must be that time of year, because everything’s happening all at once.
In a few short hours, I will have finished my last midterm (Investigation and Evidence, and it’s loads of fun, and somebody remind me to do something on Locard’s Exchange Principle). I’ll also be heading out for munchies with my classmates – Jedi’s first such attempt at sociability, so let’s all hope it goes well.
Yes, I’m putting off studying at the moment. My mind needs a bit of a break. I’ll get back to it in a minute though.
First on the list, Blood Bound is coming along nicely in the editing stages. It really is so incredibly close.
Secondly, The Superhero Diaries is sitting there being awesome in my chat-box, which is seriously cool.
While all this is going on, Catherine is sending me the writings for the Vampire Inn comic, which, seriously, awesome. I need to work up more character sketches for it, including some for younger!Delia. That’s one of the nice things about working with Vampires; their designs don’t need to age.
I also just got a new piece of fiction in: Cat’s Quill, by my buddy Anne. It’s a full-length fantasy leaning towards the adult side in subject matter, with room for sequels and prequels. There’s a whole world going on here; I was lucky enough to be on her WIP-list for it, so I’ve been able to play guessing games over what a thing is and who another person is, and all sorts of everything.
Pretty soonish, a vidding beta should be happening, which is always fun. It’s a kind of beta that I’m rather new to, but I always enjoy doing. This one is going to stretch the limits of my linguistic abilities.
I’m cheerleading for fics and hoping to get a few more in beta soon, and will definitely be receiving a fun little crossover fic for some of my favourite fandoms soon.

On the movie side of things, I now own copies of The Princess Bride, Wimbledon, and Repo, all of which I need to watch. The first two will probably force themselves into being inspirational notes for one of the fics I’m writing at the moment, while the last one… yeah, okay, there is another fic in the works that might well go with it. I’ve also got a few fic-behemoths that want writing, and that I’ll have to listen to musics for.

Everything is all happening all at once. And it’s great.

Ground to a halt

Suffice to say that for the last several days, I’ve been really quite horrendously sick, and that now I have those nice little drugs with a fun little Latin-derivational-name that I get to make comments about how it’s completely failing to live up to its translation. You don’t want all the gory details, but apparently, getting a cold can make you throw up. I did not know this a week ago, and this informational gem has been quite disgusting to discover.
I haven’t been to work, I haven’t been to class (I have previously missed only one class, and that was so I could go and meet Paul Gross, and I regret nothing even though he probably deeply regretted letting me get hold of an invite), and I haven’t actually done much as a Beta.
Mostly, I’ve slept.
So, a little update.
1) I’m alive. I won’t be doing pushups anytime soon (Monday: Pushups, curlups, and how to arrest people using my pinky finger. D’oh!), but I’m alive.
2) I am currently four, yes, really and honestly, four, chapters away from completing the first beta of Blood Bound. Let’s have a round of applause for Catherine for putting up with me going so damned slowly all the time.
3) I had a bit of an epiphany today, but I know what I need to do now, and I promise that things are going to be awesome from here on in. Or rather, as soon as I can stand without coughing up icky stuff.
4) Tomorrow I get to learn all about fingerprinting and stuff. Which, you know, COOL!
5) I’m getting previews of The Superhero Diaries, and let me tell you, it’s looking like it’s gonna be a breakaway hit.
